I recently tried my hand for the first time at photo journalism in support of an article being written for the Washington Post. My mission was to make "non-posed" images that captured the spirit of the events. The article, which covered local "giving circles", was published yesterday. See copy below. The writer liked my photos and lobbied for them but the editor elected to go with ones taken by a staff photographer that highlighted activities of the largest group, one which I did not cover (hey you can't feel bad about that!). I recommend you read this article (https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/with-giving-circles-a-sum-that-is-far-greater-than-the-parts/2017/05/30/050ea6a4-31c8-11e7-9dec-764dc781686f_story.html?utm_term=.ff3ee7a2f5d9) about "giving circles", groups, generally of women, which pool their resources to help fund local non-profits dedicated to making Northern Virginia a better place. These groups do amazing work. Here are a few of my photos which "almost" made the cut. Next time!
