Thank you Kim & Bob! by Ed Shanahan

Last week I had the opportunity to photograph Kim and Bob Shoop and their three young adult children.  It was a blast.  Before we started Kim warned me that her children were "not too crazy" about mom's idea to get some updated family photographs.  Well before long that changed and everyone got into it and had fun.

We shot in two locations and with many combinations of "who was in the photos".  I will share a few of my favorites over the coming days.

This was taken at Lake Anne Plaza in Reston.  I set up a flash on a stand in front of the family and used a modifier to soften the light so it complimented them in the darkening day, but did not overpower the scene.

Thank you Laura and Todd! by Ed Shanahan

Thank you Laura and Todd for letting me shoot you and your girls yesterday at Great Falls National Park.  What an amazing and yes Laura, photogenic family!  And the girls, 10 and 8 1/2 are cute as can be (can a guy say that?).  The 10 year old is a natural ham and the 8 1/2 year old, the more quiet but she absolutely got into it when I egged them on!  Laura asked the secret of getting great shots of a group.  One of them is to shoot many, many frames to increase the chance of getting photos where everyone is looking their best!
